Twice the Heartache...Twice the Love
I have a soft spot for Rett grandparents. Having witnessed my own parents come to terms with Chelsea’s diagnosis I saw firsthand just how painful and raw that journey was.
In a sense grandparents bear twice the pain that parents do. They ache for their children and they ache again for their grandchild. Despite their suffering they force themselves to be a pillar of strength for us.
In time they emerge from the cloud of pain and shock to become their grandchildren’s strong advocates. They heap love on us and our children, they shower us with help and are there for us whatever we need. Many fundraise tirelessly as they envision the day their grandchild is healed.
So today we celebrate Grandparents and the special place they hold in our hearts. You are cherished and you are loved. Thank you for all you do.
