Bella’s Ball

We are cordially inviting every princess and knight in the realm to dress to impress and dance for a cure! The evening activities will include Food, Music, and Raffles. Please join us in our fight to end Rett Syndrome.

What is Rett Syndrome?

Rett Syndrome is a genetic neurological disorder that almost exclusively afflicts girls and women. Rett symptoms slowly become apparent during the first 6-18 months of a seemingly normally developing child. It results in a regression that leads to various several lifelong impairments. It’s often misdiagnosed as autism or cerebral palsy and has yet to be cured. Most are unable to use their hands due repetitive and uncontrollable hand movements, hand wringing and mouthing. They are unable to use speech to communicate, seizures are a common occurrence and often, over time, scoliosis develops. Irregular breathing, hyperventilating and involuntary breath-holding are another scary set of symptoms. These women require complete assistance with even the most basic of daily activities that we all so often take for granted.

Every two hours, a girl with Rett Syndrome is born, but with every donation, we get one step closer to a cure.
